We’re celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month here at Peach Kisser; we recognize and celebrate ALL Latino and Hispanic identities. We aim to highlight Latinx authors who penned romance and eroticism from varied backgrounds. Summer leads to laziness, as we avoid the heat of the sun. It was a long afternoon, and I was watching the sun drop lower in the sky, slowly hanging back to offer us it’s golden hues and I felt like I needed a little company today.

I had invited my friend Anna over to my place. I loved Anna. We’ve been friends for decades, with closeness that has long outlived any of our great loves. I haven’t seen her lately, and so I thought I’d invite her over for some ice cream. It’s warm, and I am wary of the “Sunday Scaries”, and am not ready to let the weekend go. Picking Up Where We Left Off

We always picked up where we left off, having been friends for so long. We’ve bonded over lost loves and pets. I’ve been stressed out at work, and miss having company. As Anna walked in, golden hour struck. Suddenly, my world was illuminated with her presence, and I watched as her beauty unfolded. As we sat at my kitchen bar, Anna’s demeanor shifted subtly. She smiled, but her energy was off. Her usual giggle-filled self seemed more contemplative than usual. I looked over to her with concern, and saw her visibly shudder.

“I have something to tell you,” she said, clearing her throat. Oh, god. What could she possibly have to say?! I felt the fear of anticipation bubbling up in my throat, as I waited for her to continue. “I decided that I would take this chance to make a confession: I have feelings for you. Real ones.”

The admission made the air thick. This was not something I anticipated, but I continued to process her words. Anna had feelings for me? The revelation struck me right in the chest. In my shock, I felt… a surprisingly welcome desire I didn’t realize laid beneath the surface.

I froze, stunned. Thank goodness she waited, between bites. I would have surely choked. Anna began searching my face for any positive sign. I didn’t have time to think, and time was moving so quickly. Or was it slow? I couldn’t tell. In a flurry of surprise emotions, I pressed my lips to hers.
